Richard Rayborn was named director – Upper Michigan Energy Resources (UMERC) in September 2017.
In this role, Rayborn coordinates UMERC activities with other WEC Energy Group units in helping to grow business in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with an immediate focus on development of new U.P. generating stations. He also manages the Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) Field Service group that coordinates service work for the largest WPS customers.
Rayborn joined WEC Energy Group in 2012, serving as a principal account manager in Wholesale Energy and Fuels. He was named general manager – UMERC in January 2017.
Prior to joining the company, Rayborn spent the majority of his career with Southern Co. and its affiliated utilities in various roles, including power generation, customer service and operations, finance and accounting, and sales and marketing.
Rayborn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Mississippi State University, a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Alabama and a Master of Business Administration degree from Auburn University, and is a graduate of Wharton School of Utility Finance.
