Andy Hesselbach was named senior vice president — gas operations for WEC Energy Group in July 2021.
In this role, he oversees gas operations activities across all jurisdictions.
Previously, Hesselbach was senior vice president — gas operations for Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas, with responsibility for operations, construction and field customer service functions. The role also included oversight of Peoples Gas’ multiyear System Modernization Program.
Hesselbach joined the company in 1992 as an energy utilization engineer at Wisconsin Natural Gas Co. In 1994, he was appointed project manager — power marketing, with responsibility for negotiating power purchase and sales agreements with utilities, municipalities and other trading partners. In 1997, he was named manager — gas system marketing, with responsibility for large account billing, territory development and customer growth projects.
Beginning in 2002, Hesselbach worked on the development, design, permitting, engineering, construction and management of more than $3.6 billion in energy infrastructure projects for We Energies. He was appointed project director — generation projects in 2011, during which time he also served as vice president and general manager of several Wisconsin Energy Corp. subsidiaries that owned or constructed electric and natural gas generation assets.
Before joining the company, Hesselbach held engineering roles at Nicor Gas Co., a natural gas distributor in northern Illinois.
Hesselbach earned his Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in finance from Marquette University, and his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Wisconsin—Madison. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Wisconsin.
Hesselbach serves on the Chicago Metropolitan Planning Council Board of Governors and is a board member for the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce.
