James Schubilske was named vice president and chief audit officer for WEC Energy Group in October 2018.
In this role, Schubilske is responsible for the strategic function that helps the organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes. Schubilske also provides objective evaluations to the board of directors’ Audit and Oversight committee on audit activity and the effectiveness of the company’s internal control initiatives.
Schubilske joined the company in 1987 as a financial management analyst and later held various positions in the finance and regulatory departments, including senior analyst of revenue requirements and budgets, investor relations coordinator and business consultant. In 2000, he was named assistant treasurer — Wisconsin Energy Corporation and We Energies. In 2011, he assumed the role of assistant treasurer — regulatory affairs and policy, and two years later was named vice president — state regulatory affairs for We Energies. He became vice president — state regulatory affairs for WEC Energy Group when the company was formed in June 2015, and was named treasurer for the organization in April 2016.
Schubilske attended Marquette University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration (cum laude) in 1987 and a Master of Business Administration degree in 1996.
He currently serves on the Franklin, Wisconsin, board of water commissioners, Messmer Catholic Schools board of directors and Marquette University Accounting Advisory Board.
